Performance & Core Web Vitals

Fast sites rank and convert better.

Every second of load time costs you rankings, conversions and revenue. We take bloated sites and turn them into sub-second experiences — measured, documented and sustained.

Overview

The fastest ROI upgrade on the internet.

Google now uses Core Web Vitals — LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), INP (Interaction to Next Paint) and CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — as direct ranking factors. Sites in the green outrank sites in the red, all else equal.

Performance isn't just SEO. Every 100ms improvement in page load lifts conversion rate by 1–2% in e-commerce. On a site doing $500k/year, that's $10k+ in annual revenue from one change.

We don't guess. We run a baseline audit with real-user metrics, prioritise fixes by impact, and ship them one by one — tracking each change against the metric it was supposed to move.

What's included

Everything that slows a site down — handled.

A full-spectrum performance engagement covering every layer from DNS to the final paint.

How we work

From slow to green.

Measure

Baseline: real-user Core Web Vitals data, synthetic Lighthouse/WebPageTest scores, and commercial impact modelling.

Prioritise

Fixes ranked by impact per hour — biggest wins first. Full report shared with you before any work starts.

Ship

Fixes deployed incrementally with before/after measurements on each one. No hand-waving 'performance improvements'.

Sustain

Performance budgets in CI so future changes can't regress what we've won. Optional ongoing monitoring on retainer.

Frequently asked

Performance — common questions

How much faster can you make our site?

Depends on the starting point, but 50–80% reductions in LCP are typical on first-time engagements. We model expected gains before committing — if the ceiling is low, we'll tell you up front.

Can you optimise WordPress?

Yes — WordPress sites with sensible hosting and caching can absolutely hit green Core Web Vitals. The difference is usually in plugin bloat, unoptimised media, and default theme behaviour — all fixable.

What about our analytics and ad scripts?

Third-party scripts are often the single biggest performance drain. We migrate critical tracking (e.g. GA4, Meta Pixel) to server-side GTM where possible, defer non-critical scripts, and quantify the exact cost of each one so you can make informed decisions.

Will changes affect our design or functionality?

No. Performance work happens at the implementation layer — same design, same features, just faster. Occasionally we'll suggest tweaks (e.g., lazy-loading heavy below-fold elements) but only with your sign-off.
